ReaTooled: The Pro Tools Alternative with REAPER

ReaTooled is a customized REAPER Configuration that emulates Pro Tools' workflow in REAPER, taking advantage of all the flexibility and power REAPER has to offer! It’s a low-cost, equitable alternative to the “industry standard” DAW, making it ideal for students, teachers, journalists, podcasters, musicians, and audio professionals alike.

Notable ReaTooled features include:

• Comprehensive keyboard shortcuts, editing, navigation, zooming, and “smart” mouse behavior based on PT
• A familiar PT-inspired “screenset” (screen layout)
• PT-style Tool modes (e.g. “Smart,” Trimmer, Selector, Grabber, etc.)
• Advanced editing options (e.g. Tab-to-transient/item, Insertion Follows Playback, Link Timeline and Edit Selection, etc.)
• REAPER automatically creates Project (Session) folders with a PT-like file structure (e.g. a “Project” folder containing an “Audio Files” folder)
• A Backup folder that auto-saves projects every 5 minutes
• Thoughtfully customized preferences and settings
• “Brendan Baker’s Radio and Podcast Template” – with track presets designed for mixing podcasts to spec using REAPER’s stock plugin effects
• Many other modifications and tricks to save time and supercharge your audio editing workflow
• Plus it runs on basically any Mac, PC, or Linux computer – even older ones!
